TRI-COUNTY CAP HOMELESS PROGRAMSTyler Blain House Homeless Shelter...A Home Between Homes....56 Prospect St. Lancaster, NH 03584 Tel. & Fax 788.2344 | |
Our Mission is to respond to the needs of homeless individuals and families. The House offers emergency shelter and transitional accommodations. Our goal is to alleviate immediate housing emergencies and to assist House residents with achieving independence leading to permanent housing and to end the cycle of homelessness.
When the tragedy of homelessness occurs, folks often feel disconnected from their community. We believe that a successful approach to sheltering happens in the context of a supportive community that focuses on including the person in a meaningful experience. For this reason, when folks live at Tyler Blain House, they are engaged in a total community living arrangement. We believe everyone heals at a different pace, for this reason, we have no length of stay time limits. We only ask that residents be pro-active in their plan for independence.

The Shelter
The Tyler Blain House, located in Lancaster, New Hampshire, is a 4-bedroom Victorian home. We are ADA compliant and have the capabilities of housing 8 people, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on family configuration. The only folks not welcome are those who prove to be a threat to the safety of the House and un-escorted minors.
We have a large eat-in kitchen, a community food pantry, laundry facilities and a common area. Food is provided when needed. Case management services and transportation are offered to those who need assistance meeting their goals.
The Funding
Our primary funding is through a contract with the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. Other funds are received from the United Way of Northern New Hampshire, community gifts and donations. Most recently, we added Tyler's Second Time Around Community Thrift Store to our source of income. Once we are actually making a profit, the money will go to the Tyler Blain House!
MANY THANKS TO UNITED WAY of NORTHERN NH & CITIZENS BANK FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE YEARS!
Volunteer Opportunities
Our House has many opportunities for the interested community volunteer. We have structured volunteer programs for high school and college students fulfilling required community service hours, and special one-time projects for churches or clubs. Our most valuable asset is our volunteer, because they help us create community by example.
